The Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh

Painted by Vincent Van Gogh in 1888.

It is on display in the National Gallery in London.

As Van Gogh awaited the arrival of his friend and fellow painter Paul Gauguin, he painted a series of Sunflower paintings to decorate their house in Arles, France.

This is probably one of the most famous paintings in the world.

The way it is painted, and the colours he chose, show how happy Van Gogh was at the time. It is an expressive piece of work.

What special thing might you do to welcome a friend to your house?
